Ultimate Travel Toiletries Checklist: What I Keep in My Carry-On Bag (TSA-Friendly)

Looking for a Travel Toiletries Packing List and Wondering What Can You Carry On? Here’s a complete packing list of travel toiletries to have on hand, no matter how long you plan to be away. I made a list of all the items I pack in my toiletries bag and take with me on the plane. These are all the items that fit inside my carry-on suitcase (with all my Liquids, Aerosols, Creams, and Gels following the TSA Rule being 3.4 ounces or less, aka TSA Friendly).

You might be asking:

  • Does deodorant need to be in a clear bag for TSA?
  • Is toothpaste considered a liquid?
  • What do you have to take out of your bag at TSA?
  • How many 3 oz bottles can I carry-on?
  • How to Pack Toiletries & Makeup in a Carry On (TSA Approved)

This is the Ultimate Travel Toiletries List: What I Pack for Every Trip!

Liquids, Aerosols, and Gels Rule – TSA

Keep in mind, you are allowed to bring a quart-sized bag of liquids, aerosols, gels, creams, and pastes in your carry-on bag = through the TSA Security checkpoint. These are limited to travel-sized containers that are 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) or less per item.

Monos Metro Toiletry Case

This fits all of my travel-size toiletries and it went inside the large compartment on one side of my suitcase. I also put my liquids inside of a plastic ziplock bag to keep them from leaking (which they did) but at least it didn’t get all over the rest of my clothes and suitcase!

We ordered this Monos Metro Toiletry Case directly from the Monos website!

What’s In My Toiletry Bag? The Ultimate Checklist:

Travel Size Aerosol SPF Spray On

I have to pre-purchase these online, typically especially since I tend to travel to sunny places in the wintertime (when the stores don’t carry SPF as they do in the summertime). The best Travel Size Aerosol SPF Spray On I’ve found is the Coppertone Sunscreen Spray Sport SPF 50, 4 in 1 Performance, 80 Minute Water Resistant, Travel Size, 1.6 oz (Pack of 2) (ordered on Amazon)

Travel Size Perfume

If you ever get a chance to SMELL ME, you might be surprised to know I always smell like I’m on Vacation because usually I am, but also the perfume I wear is “Vacation” scented perfume! My boyfriend bought me this little travel perfume called Vacation by Vacation — that’s the company name, too!

Bar of Soap

I always keep a bar of soap with me in my toiletry bag. I prefer to use a bar of soap over body wash. Surprisingly, the more hotels I travel to, they tend to eliminate bars of soap, opting for body wash instead. So I’ve learned to keep a bar of plain ole soap in my bag!

Hair Clips

I also always have Clips for my hair (to wear in the shower and for styling). I usually pick these up at the Dollar Store, or they also have them on Amazon. I have to have these for the shower, otherwise I can’t keep my hair up when it’s wet!

Shampoo / Conditioner / Body Wash (3-in-1)

I typically will use the shampoo, conditioner and body wash (or soap bar) that comes with our hotel room. But, I like to be prepared in case I need something on the way at the airport or if something happens at the hotel and they don’t always have one of these things. I prefer a 3-in-1 Shampoo, Conditioner and Body Wash so that I don’t have to keep up with all of them. It only requires me to carry around one bottle to tackle all three of them.

TBH I get bottles of Arm & Hammer 3-in-1 at the Dollar Store and use it even at home, so I have less steps in my shower routine too! Keep in mind they only sell this in large bottles and I have to pour it into smaller bottles for travel.

Travel-Size bottles

Another thing I learned to keep handy were mini Travel-size empty bottles. That way I could fill them with all my own favorite face wash, shampoo, conditioner, lotions, etc… since TSA requires all these liquids, gels, creams… to be in 3.4 oz or less size containers to go in your carry-on luggage!

Wet wipes (for hands, body, booty and more)

I keep Wet wipes (for cleaning my hands, body, booty and more) they are probably the one essential item I have learned to never leave home without! Especially when you end up places with no toilet seats, no toilet paper and worse if you want some you have to PAY for it and you only get ONE little piece! (i.e. like on my trip to Cuba) — thankfully I knew this in advance and had wet wipes on me!

Erase your face Cleansing Cloths

Another item I MUST have in my carry-on bag (part of my toiletry items) but a travel essential is my Erase your face – Make-up Removing Cleansing Cloths! The BEST PART about them is that you only need water, NO SOAP or FACE WASH REQUIRED! Now if you know me I don’t really ever wear make-up so I don’t always use them for removing make-up (although I have) they are more of a nice-to-have face cloth for when you are traveling. Instead of the rough and probably not great for your skin hotel washcloths NO matter how high-end you stay!

What I love about these Erase your face – Make-up Removing Cleansing Cloths is that they are compact, TSA friendly, easy to keep in my carry-on bag, lightweight, no soap only water needed (even a bottle of water would do) the list goes on! They are not only great for at home, or in the van, but also perfect for the airport to wipe your face off with a super SOFT CLOTH!

I order my Erase your face wash cloths on Amazon!

Razor for Shaving

I always like to keep a few Single-Blade Razors in my toiletry bag for shaving. But I also have found that having an electric Wet/Dry Razor comes in handy, especially if you are traveling through the airport or not around water, as you can shave DRY with an electric razor (almost better than wet).

I picked up a cheap electric shaver for travel as I always worry TSA might confiscate it, but haven’t had any issues thus far. I will warn you that TSA or Airport security in other countries can be more strict than in the USA. So just don’t take anything expensive you wouldn’t want to lose or have to throw away.

Toothbrush + Toothpaste

Another item I always keep in my toiletry bag is a toothbrush and travel-size toothpaste. I tend to find these at the Dollar Store and never take anything too expensive with me. Sometimes, if you run out or forget these things, the hotels will have them, but not always. I NEVER try to rely on hotels for my basic essentials. Also, when it comes to travel, I do not care about brand names. Honestly, I buy the easiest, cheapest items for my necessities.

Deodorant

One thing I cannot leave home without is something for all the anxiety and sweating, so Deodorant is a must have travel essential. I keep it not just in my toiletry bag but also in my purse or to-go bag. I take it everywhere with me!

Security ponytail holders

I like to keep several secret zipper pocketed Security ponytail holders on me, in my carry-on bags, in a few different places. They’re made to hide things like money, a key, something small and lightweight. I also use them to hide Apple Airtags discretely 😉

Apple AirTags

Another item I keep for security, both on me and in my bags, is my Apple AirTags! I like them for peace of mind, so that I can find my bags, or worst case, something bad happens. I also NEVER let the valets or bellmen/women take my bags! If you only knew my bags don’t leave my side if at all possible!
