Staying Safe In Your Hotel Room:

Follow these practical tips to help you stay safe while enjoying your trip, whether you’re staying at a hotel or exploring your destination.

📌 Use the Safe:

Store valuables such as your laptop, extra cash, and important documents in your room’s safe.

📌 Lock All Doors:

Always use every lock available on your door, including the deadbolt and chain lock, when inside your room.

📌 Privacy Sign:

Hang the “Do Not Disturb” sign on your door, even when you’re not in the room, to deter unwanted attention.

📌 Call for Amenities:

Request any items you need (like towels or toiletries) to be delivered while you’re present. Avoid letting hotel staff into your room when you’re not there.

📌 Secure Valuables:

Don’t leave valuables or personal items lying around where they can be easily seen or taken.

My Essential Hotel and Travel Safety Tips To Stay Safe & Travel Smart:

Use the safe in your room for computer, valuables extra cash
Safety hidden pocket pony tail holders
When in your hotel room LOCK the door (use all the locks)
Hang privacy sign on door even when not in room
Call down for amenities (never let them clean my room or be in it without me present)
Don’t leave valuable laying around
Consider what you’re saying and where you’re saying it, not just in your room but at the restaurants when they ask you to pay your tab etc… consider who is listening or who you’re giving info to — even on the phone in your room (i.e. when they ask for your name and room number NO ID or anything else to prove who you are)
I have a Camera with Wifi & Plug Set Up that allows me to have a remote camera on in the room.
Keep your Passport, ID Credit Cards, etc all on you as much as possible BUT I do recommend having a backup credit card and some cash on hand plus copies of your ID/Passports all in case something happens you’re not stranded — just keep those things secure back in your hotel safe or some other secretive place!
One thing I cannot recommend enough are the sling backpack purses — Both my boyfriend and I have. We ware them on the front, NEVER on our backs! Each of use have our own version we love.
Be careful about inviting anyone back to your room (Probably NOT a good idea)
If you have an adjoining room (with a door), I always make sure it’s locked and put something in front of it (I will move furniture or put my luggage there… just to be sure they have no plans to open that door and come in)! Sometimes, I like to put a blanket under the door to make sure they can’t peek in or under (it also helps muffle the noise). I always feel like people can hear me in my room because I can always hear them, but maybe it’s Just me! I do have sensitive hearing.
